Now that Lara Trump has made her debut as a propagandist for President Donald Trump’s “Real News” in a video on his Facebook page, The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert has decided he needs another “real news” correspondent as well.
Stephen Colbert Knows “Real News” When He Sees It
So far, the aforementioned video has garnered some 2.3 million views while Lara Trump spins tall pro-Trump tales to the American public, Slate reports.
But she’s been stepping on Colbert’s toes. After all, he’s been delivering fake pro-Trump news directly to Trump since the election as part of a segment called Real News Tonight. It’s not lost on Colbert that Lara Trump ends her segment with “that’s the real news.”
Real News Tonight’s funniest bit may be the one where reporters Jim Anchorton and Jill Newslady helped Trump’s cohorts distract Trump’s attention away from watching former FBI Director James Comey testify by reporting something the president would find fascinating:
“This just in: The White House freezer iS BROKEN, AND THE CHEFS NEED A BIG, BRAVE HERO TO COME EAT ALL THE ICE CREAM BEFORE IT MELTS”
The video is pretty funny:
And since Lara is firing off things like “This is a president who is putting America before himself,” perhaps Colbert figured the best thing to do was consort with the enemy. So, he added her to his fake news team as a special correspondent. Jim Anchorton and Jill Newslady lobbed tough questions like “How are the jobs jobbing?” and “What’s the latest on the president’s generosity?”
Lara didn’t disappoint, and Newslady, who was duly impressed, called her:
“A brilliant vessel for children with sacred Trump blood in their veins.”

But she had stiff competition from another new hire to the news team: Perky Kushner-Trump, a clever dog owned by Jared and Ivanka, who keeps his fluffy ears finely attuned to any positive Trump news.
Both seem to agree without sharing any sources that jobs are on the up and up and that the mighty orange one is a wonderful president.
And now back to you, Stephen:
