Even though he has exactly ZERO experience in the field, Anthony Scaramucci was named on Friday to be the new White House Communications Director. Apparently President Trump is hoping a change of personnel can somehow change the fact that he’s suspected of being a patsy for Vladimir Putin.
Back in 2010, Scaramucci had an encounter with then-president Barack Obama. At the time, Scaramucci was working at the hedge fund management company SkyBridge, and he reminded the president they had been in law school together at Harvard. To that, Obama replied with a smile:
“YOU’VE DONE VERY WELL, CONGRATULATIONS.”
Then Scaramucci began whining and told the president:
“I REPRESENT THE WALL STREET COMMUNITY, WE HAVE FELT LIKE A PINATA.”
Next, the Wall Streeter asked what Obama planned to do to “heal” Wall Street. Keep in mind, this was less than two years since Wall Street speculation and a giant subprime mortgage bubble had nearly crashed the entire world economy. To Scaramucci’s query, Obama replied:
“I HAVE BEEN AMUSED OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS, THIS SENSE SOMEHOW OF ME BEATING UP WALL STREET,” OBAMA SAID. “I THINK MOST FOLKS ON MAIN STREET FEEL LIKE THEY GOT BEAT UP ON.
“AND I’LL BE HONEST WITH YOU, THERE’S A BIG CHUNK OF THE COUNTRY THAT THINKS I’VE BEEN TOO SOFT ON WALL STREET. THAT’S PROBABLY THE MAJORITY, NOT THE MINORITY.”
Next, President Obama told Scaramucci that he and his fellow residents of Wall Street “shouldn’t be feeling put upon” before he finally destroyed the overpaid financier by reminding him:
“THE QUESTION SHOULD BE HOW CAN WE WORK WITH YOU TO CONTINUE GROWING THE ECONOMY.
“THE NOTION THAT SOMEHOW ME SAYING MAYBE YOU SHOULD BE TAXED MORE … I DON’T THINK THAT’S ME BEING EXTREMIST OR BEING ANTI-BUSINESS.”
In the world of Donald Trump and Anthony Scaramucci, those among us who don’t work in New York real estate or Wall Street cannot fully understand or appreciate how stressful their jobs are. In their minds, we should bow down and kiss their shoes when they walk by. But considering the uncounted number of underhanded and illegal things they did to get their millions, they’re just lucky we don’t exile them to a remote island.
