The Radical Pastor John Hagee announced that Vice President Mike Pence will be speaking at the Christians United for Israel gathering in July.
Hagee is a pastor at a Texas megachurch and an outspoken proponent of the Religious Right and was a big supporter of the Trump-Pence ticket during the election. Hagee has said:
“We have a mandate from the Bible and that mandate is to be supportive of Israel and the Jewish people.”
He is also one of those that believes that the apocalypse is imminent. Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) was forced to reject Hagee’s endorsement during the 2008 Presidential election. It came to light that Hagee believes that God sent Adolf Hitler to be a “hunter of Jews.” He said in a sermon:
“Then God sent a hunter. A hunter is someone with a gun and he forces you. Hitler was a hunter. And the Bible says — Jeremiah writing — ‘They shall hunt them from every mountain and from every hill and from the holes of the rocks,’ meaning there’s no place to hide. And that might be offensive to some people but don’t let your heart be offended. I didn’t write it, Jeremiah wrote it. It was the truth and it is the truth. How did it happen? Because God allowed it to happen. Why did it happen? Because God said my top priority for the Jewish people is to get them to come back to the land of Israel.”
Hagee has also said that the Catholic Church is the Antichrist, homosexuality was the cause of Hurricane Katrina, and God is punishing America for former President Barack Obama’s policies with the Ebola virus and other disasters.
Is this the kind of company our Vice President should keep?
