Mr. Trumpertantrum Mistakenly Threatens 9th Circuit Court Over Ruling It Hasn’t Heard Yet… SAD!

President Donald Trump has taken to Twitter again this morning. He is upset that his sanctuary cities executive order got struck down.

Here is the Twitter tirade:

He threatened to dismantle the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which is already insane. There is just one problem with this threat. He’s talking about the wrong court. The judge who issued the ruling, Judge William Orrick of a San Francisco court, does not sit on the Ninth Circuit, which is an appeals court. The Ninth Circuit will be the next court to hear the case if the Trump administration decides to appeal the ruling.

The executive order in question blocks funding from the “sanctuary cities,” which are cities where they choose to limit cooperation with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has said that the administration will continue to litigate the case. Sessions said:

“This is the Trump era. Progress is being made daily, and it will continue. This will be the Administration that fully enforces our nation’s immigration laws.”

The White House statement on the subject says in part:

“Today’s ruling undermines faith in our legal system and raises serious questions about circuit shopping. But we are confident we will ultimately prevail in the Supreme Court, just as we will prevail in our lawful efforts to impose immigration restrictions necessary to keep terrorists out of the United States,”

Trump, if you are going to whine at a court, make sure it’s the right one.
