This week, Republicans unveiled their long-awaited health care replacement plan, the American Health Care Act (AHCA). It eliminates the tax subsidies and replaces them with age-based tax credits.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has been talking about wanting to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. He has just shown how uneducated he really is about health insurance.
In the video below, he said:
“…The young healthy person is going to be made to buy health care and they’re going to pay for the person who gets breast cancer in her 40s or heart disease in their 50s.”
Yes, this is how Obamacare works, but that is how ALL insurance works. Everyone pays a little bit, then the people who need the money get it. That is the basic concept behind car insurance and any insurance.
Obamacare provided insurance to over 20 million Americans who didn’t have it before. What are these people going to do if they can’t afford a plan under the new system. We should make politicians have to buy healthcare and see how they feel about it then.
We are paying for their insurance. Let’s see how quickly the spineless Paul Ryan would change his tune if he had to pay for his own healthcare.
Here is another video that shows Paul Ryan being put on the spot about the new health care plan:
