On His 1st Day As HUD Secretary, Ben Carson Calls Slaves ‘Immigrants’ Who Worked ‘For Less’

For his first official day as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Ben Carson decided to give a speech to the employees of the department he now oversees. And in doing so, he proved that while he may indeed be a brain surgeon, he’s also about as bright as a 1 watt bulb.

Carson told his HUD staff:

“That’s what America is about. A land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons, great granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”

What in the fuck did he just say?! Slaves were immigrants? Actually, I do believe slaves were brought here against their will and forced to work until they were dead or their owner decided to sell them to someone else who then either killed them or worked them to death. I don’t recall any of them volunteering to immigrate to the United States.

While he was at it, Carson, a neurosurgeon, also decided to talk about the human brain Apparently he had his surgically removed from his skull decades ago:

“[E]very human being, regardless of their ethnicities, or their background, they have a brain, the human brain. You can’t overload [the brain]. Have you ever heard people say, ‘Don’t do that or you’ll overload your brain’? You can’t overload the human brain. … So we need to concentrate a little less on what we can’t do and a little more on what we can do.”

I got nothing for that other than this one commentary: I wouldn’t let this ignorant fuckwad put a damn Band Aid on my finger if he paid me to.
