A**hat Fundies In South Dakota Want To Shove Their Science-Denial Down Your Kids’ Throats

The South Dakota anti-evolution bill has passed the Senate Education Committee. SB 55 is meant to weaken the teaching of evolution in schools.

From the description of the bill:

“No teacher may be prohibited from helping students understand, analyze, critique, or review in an objective scientific manner the strengths and weaknesses of scientific information presented in courses being taught which are aligned with the content standards established pursuant to.”

It basically allows teachers to talk about climate change denial and Creationism. This is a slippery slope, though.

The bill actually doesn’t explicitly mention any science terms, but it is similar in wording to other bills that were used to limit the teaching of evolution.

This time last year, Oklahoma was passing its own evolution bill. Senator Josh Brecheen has written bills forcing creationism. He said:

“I have introduced legislation requiring every publicly funded Oklahoma school to teach the debate of creation vs. evolution using the known science, even that which conflicts with Darwin’s religion.”

Evolution is not a religion, idiot. These science-denying morons need to stop trying to shove evolution out of science class. The Biblical creation story is not science, and it never will be.
