Former Secretary of Labor in the Clinton Administration Robert Reich is a hero to many liberals and progressives across the country. And his personal wish for what he hopes will transpire in the New Year on the Trump front is perfect.
Reich begins by writing:
“Donald Trump issued the following tweet on the last day of 2016: ‘Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do. Love!”‘
And then comes the wish part of Reich’s statement, and it’s one we can all hope comes to pass, though I have to admit I’m not the least bit confident it will:
“Happy New Year, Mr. Trump. You have 20 days in which to learn how to act as a president. All of us – even those who oppose your policies and worry about your character – sincerely hope you do.”
Trump could make great strides in this regard if he would simply stay off Twitter. But do you suppose he can do that for longer than 24 hours without going into withdrawal?
