Back in February, after he won the Nevada GOP primary, Donald Trump made this declaration as part of his victory speech:
“We won with highly-educated, we won with poorly educated! I love the poorly educated!”
The feeling is mutual. The poorly educated love them some Don the Con Trump. They aren’t sure why, but they cling to him like a baby clings to its favorite blanket.
Last night as part of an MSNBC town hall with Senator Bernie Sanders held in Wisconsin, a struggling factory worker who admitted she had voted for Trump commented:
“Who’s paying for this? Who’s paying for the Medicaid? Who’s paying for the Social Security? Who’s paying for the Medicare? Now, have any of you seen down on the streets that it seems as though we have become the silent minority and not the majority?”
So Sanders gave this woman a lesson, telling her:
“Who is going to pay for this stuff? And that is a very fair point. What all of us should know is that over the last 25 years, there has been a massive transfer of wealth in this country from you to the top one-tenth of one percent. In other words, the middle class has shrunk and trillions of dollars have gone to the top one-tenth of one percent. Do you think it’s inappropriate to start asking those people to pay their fair share of taxes so we can adequately fund Medicaid and make public colleges and universities tuition-free. Is that an unfair thing to ask?”
But this woman thought a billionaire with billionaire friends was gonna give a diddly damn about her most basic needs for food, healthcare, housing, and retirement security. If it wasn’t so fucking pathetic, it’d be laughable.
