Hurricane Irma is now a Category 5 storm with wind speeds in excess of 200 miles an hour, and it’s now bearing down on Florida, where it’s expected to hit later this week. That’s the bad news.
But according to resident radio idiot Rush Limbaugh, there’s no need to worry about Irma because it’s all just a big hoax being perpetuated by liberals and those who believe in climate change.
On Monday, Limbaugh said he’s not a meteorologist, but then added that he doesn’t believe the weather forecasts:
“The reason that I am leery of forecasts this far out, folks, is because I see how the system works. Hurricane Harvey and the TV pictures that accompany that go a long way to helping further and create the panic.”
Yeah, no need to worry about a storm in Texas that dropped 50 inches of rain on Houston, is there, Rush. Grab a beer and relax!
But that was just a warm-up for what Limbaugh really wanted to do, which is cast doubt on the scientific fact of climate change:
“In the official meteorological circles, you have an abundance of people who believe that man-made climate change is real. And they believe that Al Gore is correct when he has written—and he couldn’t be more wrong—that climate change is creating more hurricanes and stronger hurricanes.”
But then the rotund mound of right-wing propaganda turned the crazy up to 15 and let spew with this:
“There is a desire to advance this climate change agenda, and hurricanes are one of the fastest and best ways to do it. You can accomplish a lot just by creating fear and panic. You don’t need a hurricane to hit anywhere. All you need is to create the fear and panic accompanied by talk that climate change is causing hurricanes to become more frequent and bigger and more dangerous, and you create the panic, and it’s mission accomplished, agenda advanced.”
Mother Nature, please do me one favor: Make sure Rush gets a nice taste of a hurricane and it scares the living shit out of him. He might never accept the fact of climate change, but at least he’d have to change his shorts several times.
