President Donald Trump promised Tuesday that North Korea will receive “fire and fury” if it threatens the U.S. And when he did this, Twitter users freaked out.
Trump Threatens North Korea
He issued the stunning threat after intelligence analysts discovered that North Korea has produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead, CNN reports.
Trump issued the statement during a photo op at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, using warhawk rhetoric:
“North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen… he has been very threatening beyond a normal state. They will be met with fire, fury and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before.”
This has some people scared, while others find humor in Trump’s scorched-earth words, according to Raw Story.

The world has seen plenty of fire and fury; between 60 and 80 million people died because of WWII. 100k+ from nuke bombs. Scary high bar.

Fire and fury > strategic patience

Fire and fury? Trump is out here sounding like he's narrating a video game. Can we substitute an adult prez in times of nuclear threats?

When i first saw this I thought Kim Jong Un said it – but no: Trump threatens North Korea with "fire and fury" https://t.co/uPVeebgaDs

Add Fire and Fury to the list of "this would be funny if it weren't so terrifying" president Trump comments.

I saw Fire and Fury open for Nuclear Winter in ‘89

And Mediaite also notes Twitter users had some interesting reactions:
he announces a nuke threat vs north korea the same way a 5 year old announces I WON'T EAT PEAS. pic.twitter.com/gH8YamLl87

Last summer I reported that Trump asked a foreign policy leader three times why the US had nuclear weapons if we couldn't use them. https://t.co/w4JskMPNdl

Trump's "fire and fury" comment is oddly similar to one by President Ryan in Tom Clancy's Executive Orders. Speechwriter has a thesaurus?

For good measure, Mediaite included a few blasts from Trump’s past:
Our President must be very careful with the 28 year old wack job in North Korea. At some point we may have to get very tough-blatant threats
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 6, 2013
Be prepared, there is a small chance that our horrendous leadership could unknowingly lead us into World War III.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 31, 2013
Then Mediaite summed it up with this final tweet:
2013 Trump tried to warn us about 2017 Trump. https://t.co/NtFH5yzrMH
— Brian Klaas (@brianklaas) August 8, 2017
Yes, Trump did, but too many right-wing idiots weren’t listening.
And Trump’s threats can be likened to throwing vinegar on a hornet’s nest — they have apparently angered officials in North Korea, who now say they are “carefully examining” a preemptive attack on Guam, Politico reports.
So Twitter users, as well as the rest of us, have good reason to worry.
