Just when you thought Donald Trump couldn’t possibly sink any lower beneath the dignity of his elected office, he turns around and begs Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto not to tell the press that his country’s not paying for Trump’s fabled border wall.
Acc’ording to a transcript of a call between Trump and Nieto, published by The Washingon Post, Trump described the financial details of his proposed border wall as “the least important thing.”
But he urged the Mexican president not to state their position on financing the wall publicly.
The call took place on Jan. 27, and only 24 hours after Nieto publicly snubbed Trump by canceling his scheduled trip to Washington to meet with him in the Oval Office. The cancellation was due to a tweet Trump wrote stating:
“If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting.”
After the call, both presidents released statements explaining that they mutually agreed not to discuss financing the border wall, and acknowledged that both men had a difference of opinion on the subject.
However, the call transcript paints a different picture and exposes Trump’s dishonest manipulation of the American public.
“[Y]ou and I are both at a point now where we are both saying we are not to pay for the wall. From a political standpoint, that is what we will say. We cannot say that anymore because if you are going to say that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, then I do not want to meet with you guys anymore because I cannot live with that. I am willing to say that we will work it out, but that means it will come out in the wash and that is okay. But you cannot say anymore that the United States is going to pay for the wall.”
“I am just going to say that we are working it out … Believe it or not, this is the least important thing that we are talking about, but politically this might be the most important talk about.”
At a later point during the call, Nieto once again brought up the topic of financing the border wall and made his country’s position crystal clear:
“I have recognized the right of any government to protect its borders as it deems necessary and convenient … But my position has been and will continue to be very firm saying that Mexico cannot pay for that wall.”
Trump didn’t bother to try and persuade Neito but instead emphasized how important it was that the Mexican president allow the public to think there was a possibility that he could still fold to the U.S. president’s so-called “negotiating” magic.
“But you cannot say that to the press … The press is going to go with that and I cannot live with that. You cannot say that to the press because I cannot negotiate under those circumstances.”
Peña Nieto responded:
“I understand you well, Mr. President.”
So there you have it folks, more proof that Donald Trump is more interested in appearance rather than substance. He doesn’t care if Mexico never pays a dime toward his wall, nor if Congress never approves it. He just wants the appearance that he’s “winning.”
Trump basically begged Nieto to fake an orgasm to give off the impression that the “well hung” U.S. president screwing over Mexico while fulfilling his promise to put “America first.
It seems that Trump’s pretty comfortable begging people to act as though they respect him in public, which could explain how Melania manages to keep her lunch down whenever she’s forced to appear in public with the bloated orange toad she that she’s legally required to call her husband.
Or could it be that Trump perfected his prostrating skills during his alone time with Putin?
