Trump Justified Military Ban With A Fox News Report Falsely Linking Transgender People To Child Abuse

Fox News aired a segment linking the transgender community to “child abuse” and this gave alleged president Donald Trump the opportunity to justify his earlier announcement that transgender people should not serve in the military.

When Trump made the sudden announcement that transgender people should not serve in the military, it came as a surprise to the Pentagon. As he tweeted Wednesday that the U.S. government will not allow or accept this, he said transgender people are burdened with a high medical cost which the government cannot afford to bear.

This is a sequel to the opinion of Trump’s favorite television network that criticized transgender people just a few days before trump made his announcement. Fox News host Tucker Carlson read the announcement from a column written by his guest Dr. Michelle Cretella, M.D., which says:

…Transgender rights are not rooted in reality.

Cretella further stated that she considers transgender rights “child abuse” because the “lies” of the transition process interrupts the normal psychological development of a child. She went on to claim:

“They [children] are being put on the puberty blockers, which essentially castrates them chemically, followed by surgical mutilation later on. This is child abuse.”

The president is not really concerned about the alteration of chemistry that transsexual people go through, or the psychological effects on such children.

In fact, he is more concerned about what he says are the high medical bills that treating such people and having them as part of the military would create, and that these supposed costs would eventually deplete the government coffers if they are allowed into the military.

The problem with this statement is that it is not rooted in fact.

According to Forbes, approximately 2 percent of an estimated 1,300 – 6,300 or so active trans-service members will seek reassignment surgery or other transgender related healthcare. That healthcare will cost in total about 0.017 percent of the military’s total annual budget of $50 billion.

Put into dollars, that would be about $8.4 million. Total.

The military spends five times as much as that on Viagra every year.

Stopping transgender people from being in the military is discriminatory at best.
