Fox News’ Sean Hannity was on track to accept the William F. Buckley Award for Media Excellence this week before his “honor” was derailed by none other than William F. Buckley’s son.
CNN’s Jake Tapper reports that the conservative author Christopher Buckley was appalled and “expressed great dismay” at the thought of Hannity being awarded an accolade named after his father, so much so that he lobbied the Media Reseach Center to repo the award.
On top of that, Tapper also reported that the MRC was trying to figure out a way to allow Hannity to save some face by fabricating a story in which Hannity had to turn down the award due to a “scheduling conflict.”
“It’s my understanding there was a scheduling conflict,” Ryan Moy, a spokesman for the MRC, told CNN.
However, upon finding out about the story on CNN, Hannity went on an epic Twitter tantrum against Tapper for reporting news that made him look bad. The bloated potato-faced Trump butt plug referred to Tapper as”fake news Jake,” as he pathetically tried to spin the story.
“Hey Fake News Jake, I was offered an award, I was unable to attend, and I respectfully turned it down,” Hannity wrote. “If [National Review] ‘Never Trumpers’ or [Buckley’s] son were upset about me receiving the award, they never told me. Now I’m really glad I said ‘No thanks.’”

Conservative New York Times columnist, Bret Stephens, was so unsettled at the prospect of Hannity winning an award named after one of the most influential people in modern day conservative journalism, that he wrote a unmerciful article expressing his disgust. He decried the gesture as further proof of the conservative movement’s descent into the pit of anti-intellectualism.
“If we have reached the point where rank-and-file conservatives see nothing amiss with giving Hannity an award named for Buckley, then surely there’s a Milton Friedman Prize awaiting Steve Bannon for his insights on free trade,” Stephens wrote. “The floor’s the limit. Or, in Hannity’s case, the crawl space beneath it.”
Hannity tweeted back at Stephens: “I’ll say to you and the @nytimes (Fake News) I do not care what u think.”

Meanwhile, according to Tapper, a source close to the situation claims that Buckey shared these thoughts regarding the MRC’s fake excuse:
“Perhaps Mr. Hannity has been offered the Ronald Reagan Great Communicator Award on the same evening and had decided to leverage upwards.”
Poor little Hannity, he must long to escape the cold, cruel world of reality and return back up Donald Trump’s ass where it’s nice, safe, and warm.
