Recently, I had a conversation with a Trump voter concerned about how her job was cutting the hours of full-time employees from 40 to 32 hours, because “technically” in Texas, 30 hours is considered full-time employment.
She seemed flabbergasted when I told her that Republicans are responsible for unfavorable employment laws like “at-will employment,” and other policies designed to favor corporations over their workers.
At first I thought she was kidding, after all, this lady was a 59-year-old former school teacher. But, I soon realized that she was completely serious. She had no idea that Donald Trump endorsed the same pro-corporate platform that helped create the law that’s now causing her even more financial hardship.
This is just one small example of how Trump voters around the country are beginning to wake up to the reality of their decision.
Politico recently wrote a story about how the Trump Administration have broadsided voters in “Middle America” with plans to cut many of their vital federally funded programs. Programs that he promised during his campaign not to touch.
Micheal Williams, the Republican mayor of Union County, expressed bewilderment when he learned about Trump’s for plans for deep cuts in the type of rural subsidies that his constituents rely on to survive.
“I thought, ‘Oh my God,’” Williams said. “I don’t know if they really thought this through.”
One expert explains how Trump voters were easily fooled (like most Republican voters) into voting against their own interests.
“The federal budget is not just a national story, it really is a state-by-state story,” said Anne Stauffer, director of Pew’s Fiscal Federalism program. “When people think about the federal budget they don’t connect it to their lives or the services they get from their state or their city.”
In other words, they knew his policies would hurt “some” people, but they never thought that his policies would hurt them.
Farron Cousins, the host of YouTube’s Ring of Fire, addresses disillusioned Trump voters looking for sympathy and a warm hug, by instead offering up a heaping helping of fuck you with a side of “we fucking told you so” for dessert.
Check it out.
While victims of con men (like the hundreds of unpaid contractors that Trump screwed over the years) don’t deserve to be swindled, the people who blindly put him into power abso-fucking-lutely deserve to wake up with a sore ass next to Trump’s large, grotesque, naked pimple-infested back.
No fucking sympathy Trump voters. None.
