25th Amendment Begins Trending On Social Media, And Trump Is FURIOUS!

You may not have actually read the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution since high school or college, but the second clause of that amendment states:

“Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”

What does that mean exactly? Well, it means that Vice President Mike Pence, along with 13 of the 24 members of the Cabinet, could decide the president is unable to do his job and remove him from office.

Funny thing is, in recent days, with President Trump’s unhinged tweets directed at Mika Brzezinski and the odd video Trump body slamming a person with the CNN logo superimposed over their face, it’s becoming clearer than ever–even to Republicans–that Donnie has jumped the shark.

Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin of Maryland recently introduced a bill to establish an independent commission on presidential capacity. As the bill states, it would allow Congress to:

“Guarantee the security of the nation and effectiveness of government when serious concerns have been raised about the president’s ability to execute the responsibilities of the office.”

Is there really any question that such a commission is badly needed, not only in the case of Trump, but also as a way to guarantee we aren’t stuck with another mentally unfit person in the Oval Office?

In recent days, #25thAmendment has been trending big time on Twitter, where the president spends most of his waking hours, and Jon Cooper, Chairman of the Democratic Coalition, reports that has enraged the Orange Menace:

Is it likely Pence and others in the administration will seek to use the 25th as way of getting rid of Trump? No, it isn’t. But we can always keep it trending on Twitter just to scare the shit out of fragile little Donnie.
