Kathy Griffin made waves on both sides of the aisle this week with her latest photoshoot. She posed with a fake, bloody prop head of President Donald Trump.
She gave a tearful press conference on her photo scandal. She spoke about the backlash she has faced from the Trump family after the photo shoot. She talked about the death threats she faced.
“What’s happening to me has never happened, ever in the history of this great country, which is that a sitting president of the United States and his grown children and the first lady are personally, I feel, personally trying to ruin my life forever.”
She believes that the backlash is rooted in sexism. She also said:
“Cut the crap, this wouldn’t be happening to a guy — this is a woman thing. I’m not afraid of Donald Trump. He’s a bully. I’ve dealt with older white guys trying to keep me down my whole life — my whole career.”
I, personally, don’t like the photo. I think it was inappropriate. However, I will defend her right to do it. This is America. We have a First Amendment, and we have the right to say inappropriate things if they want to.
Griffin’s attorney Lisa Bloom said:
“As a result of the first family bullying her, she has been vilified, getting death threats, fired from multiple jobs and had multiple events canceled.”
She said that the President and First Family are trying to ruin her life. The First Lady even said:
“As a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing. When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it.”
Many venues are canceling her shows, and she was fired from the CNN New Year’s Eve show. I don’t know about her sexism claim, but I do defend her right to speak out.
