It would seem that many supporters of President Donald Trump are keen to uphold their Second Amendment rights, but not so enthusiastic about the First Amendment rights of others.
Case in point, Rep. Al Green (D-Texas).
Rep. Green used his right to free speech to call for the impeachment of President Business, and in response, he received a thoughtful, reasoned debate from those who disagreed with him.
No, not really. What he actually got was a slew of phone messages such as:
“You’ll be hanging from a tree. You ain’t going to impeach nobody, try it and we will lynch all of you.”
Green responded to the threats with:
“We are not going to be intimidated … We are not going to allow this to cause us to deviate from what we believe to be the right thing to do and that is to proceed with the impeachment of President Trump.”
Green went on to say:
“You cannot allow hate to be hidden, you have to expose hate. Hate is a means by which people can be harmed. It’s an evil. The best way to deal with evil is to expose.”
Here are some of the telephone messages that were left on the voicemail at Greens’ office.
