Former President Barack Obama may have a low-key life since leaving office, but he recently spoke out against Trumpcare. While accepting an award for courage, he asked the current administration to do what’s right.
That’s because President Donald Trump is clinging tightly to a healthcare reform bill that will cause millions of people to lose their insurance. It’s probably not what Trumpkins were expecting when he campaigned to repeal Obamacare.

Not wanting to see people lose the healthcare he worked so hard for them to get, Obama sent a loud message to Trump and members of Congress. While accepting the JFK Profile in Courage Award last night, he said:
“I HOPE THAT CURRENT MEMBERS OF CONGRESS RECALL THAT IT ACTUALLY DOESN’T TAKE A LOT OF COURAGE TO AID THOSE WHO ARE ALREADY POWERFUL…BUT IT DOES REQUIRE SOME COURAGE TO CHAMPiON THE VULNERABLE AND THE SICK AND THE INFIRM AND THOSE WHO OFTEN HAVE NO ACCESS TO THE CORRIDORS OF POWER.”
He was referring, of course, to the Affordable Healthcare Act (ACA). It’s easy for members of Congress to hand out tax breaks to the wealthy, but it takes real courage to fight for those who truly need it.
For example, people with preexisting conditions who may no longer be able to afford life-saving medication.
Obama also pointed out that many lawmakers lost their seats over the ACA. They made a big sacrifice so that 20 million people could receive health insurance.
That’s true courage.
