Republicans are so desperate to try and defend their Orange Julius savior in the White House that they will literally resort to any craziness necessary if it manages to divert attention from the investigation into President Trump and Russia.
If you doubt that, take a look at what Texas GOP Congressman Blake Farenthold had to say on CNN Wednesday morning, when he began his appearance by announcing:
“My fear is our constant focusing on the Russians is deflecting away for some other things that we need to be investigating in. There’s still some question as to whether the intrusion of the DNC server was an inside job or whether or it was the Russians.”
An inside job? Is this blubber-faced country bumpkin serious? Host John Berman was amazed and asked:
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. The ‘inside job?’ What are you referring to here because I hope it’s not this information that Fox News just refused to be reporting.”
That’s when Farenthold spun a tale straight out of the imagination belonging to a 5-year-old child who watches too much TV: The DNC contracted their own cybersecurity firm to look into their data breach, meaning it might have been faked.
Or maybe it was just…magic!
“Congressman, do you think it’s responsible to bring up things, in your words, that ‘are swirling on the internet’ and give it justification as if there’s a there-there when we know nothing on that yet?”
To that, the simple-minded Texan replied:
“I think the same is true with what the media is doing with Trump. We’re basing allegations on anonymous sources.”
The CNN host then reminded Farenthold that one of the people who has made the accusations is the former head of the CIA. Rather than respond, the completely ignorant Congressman said Washington needs to get back to legislating instead of investigating Russiagate.
Translation: We still have to take away the social safety net and give more tax cuts to the filthy rich. All this scandal talk is getting in the way of our reverse Robin Hood plan for the country.
