Earlier this week, during a question and answer session at a conference in Houston, former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) talked about President Donald Trump.
Although according to Boehner, he and Trump have been friends for 15 years, and they had played golf on more than one occasion, he admitted that he never envisioned Trump becoming the president.
“Everything else he’s done [in office] has been a complete disaster. He’s still learning how to be president.”
Perhaps not wanting to get on Trump’s bad side now that he’s president, Boehner had some praises up his sleeves. He praised Trump for his handling of international affairs and foreign policy, putting emphasis on his aggressive stance towards Islamic State.
Boehner also stamped down the talk about impeachment, stating that Trump only “did what he could.”
“Talk of impeachment is the best way to rile up Trump supporters. Remember, impeachment is not a legal process; it’s a political process.”
Admittedly, he said that earlier this year he was a little optimistic about the Trump Presidency, but seeing as how disastrous Trump is proving to be, his odds are higher that he’ll be impeached.
When asked if he sees himself being the president in the future, he had the best answer.
“I wake up every day, drink my morning coffee and say hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. I don’t want to be president. I drink red wine. I smoke cigarettes. I golf. I cut my own grass. I iron my own clothes. And I’m not willing to give all that up to be president.”
After what Trump is doing with the nation, I doubt anybody wants to be the next president to pick up after his mess, don’t you think?
