The way Donald Trump and his Republican co-conspirators acted on Thursday when the House finally managed to just barely pass the American Health Care Act–aka Trumpcare–you’d have thought they just enacted legislation that would immunize them all from being held accountable if they manage to take health insurance away from at least 24 million Americans.
CNN noticed, too, and they not so subtly reminded the administration and the GOP that in order for a bill to become a law, it must be passed by both the House and the Senate. And Trumpcare faces a much rougher ride in the upper body of Congress.
Host Don Lemon asked White House correspondent Jim Acosta:
“Is he [Trump] celebrating a little prematurely?”
To that, Acosta replied:
“They might want to call up ‘Schoolhouse Rock’ on YouTube. Holding a victory party in the Rose Garden of the White House after something passes in the House, that might be a bit premature.”
Something tells me the Donald is more than a bit familiar with being premature in all kinds of areas.
Another guest, April Ryan of American Urban Radio Networks, also said “Schoolhouse Rock” had come to mind, and also noted:
“This is not really a victory, it’s a winning picture that he wants to present, but it’s a partial victory. The issue really happens next week, when the true numbers ― the CBO score ― come out, so we’ll see if they’re still doing a victory lap then.”
Until then you know you want to see this video and share it with everyone who might remember “I’m Just a Bill.” I bet you still know the lyrics, don’t you? I sure do!
