If you’ve seen the ads from the Trump team touting the so-called president’s alleged accomplishments in his first 100 days, then it’s highly likely you understand why CNN is refusing to air the ad.
One section of the ad in question blasts the media flashing the words “FAKE NEWS” over the faces of anchors and reporters from ABC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC.
A memo from the Trump-Pence campaign released Tuesday morning stated:
“FAKE NEWS STATION REFUSES TO RUN AD HIGHLIGHTING THE PRESIDENT’S FIRST 100 DAYS.
It’s absolutely shameful to see the media blocking the positive message that President Trump is trying to share with the country. It’s clear that CNN is trying to silence our voice and censor our free speech because it doesn’t fit their narrative.”
What the memo neglects to mention is that CNN or any other network is under no obligation to run any ad they disagree with or choose not to have shown on their air. As the network said in a statement:
“Americans also are far from convinced that Trump’s first 100 days have been a success. A CNN/ORC poll found that the President reached the milestone with the lowest approval rating of any newly-elected president at this stage amid sharp partisan divides and a failure to capitalize on post-election strengths.”
Hadas Gold of Politico says CNN will not air the Trump ad until the words “fake news” are removed from it. CNN told her:
“The mainstream media is not fake news, and therefore the ad is false and per policy will be accepted only if that graphic is deleted.”
But Trump is used to getting whatever he wants, so when someone tells him no, he takes it very personally because he has the mentality of a spoiled five-year-old brat.
Hey, Donald, isn’t it time you faced facts and realized that the vast majority of this country hates you? They really do. And each day you give them new reasons to hate you even more.
Here’s the ad Trump wants CNN to run:
