Gun nuts practically yelled “yeehaw” when their candidate got into the White House. They finally had a president who supported their right to walk around while packing heat.
Except gun sales actually went up under former President
President Donald Trump recently spoke at the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) annual meetings in Atlanta, Georgia. No sooner did gun nuts pack their pistols did the NRA post this on their website:
“during the 2017 nra annual meetings & exhibits, lawfully carried firearms wll be permitted in the georgia world congress center and the omni atlanta hotel at cnn center in ACCORDANCE with georgia law. However, firearms are not allowed in the remainder of the cnn center, including the food court and shops. When carrying your firearm, REMEMBER to follow all federal, state and local laws.”
It’s hard to imagine someone ordering lunch without an AK47, but the president must be protected at all costs. We hope they still ate.

Unfortunately for Trump supporters who attended this gun convention, the Secret Service does have the right to ban guns. It just kind of puts a kink on the NRA and their gun-toting fans’ favorite phrase: Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.
So if guns don’t kill people, then why ban them at all? Trump should feel at home in a room full of pistol-packing supporters that he panders to. After all, they voted for him partially because Obama was after their guns.

Oh wait, that’s not true. Gun sales actually went up under his administration. All Obama did was enforce background checks. If people kill people, it sure does make sense to screen them before they buy a firearm.
Not for ‘Muricans, though.
