In a truly enlightened society, there would be no need to have a March for Science because scientific fact would be the standard by which all theories were tested and proven true for false.
But we live in a country where rapacious businesses–energy companies, fossil fuel producers, chemical behemoths–can merely buy members of Congress who will gladly deny the most basic facts of science in exchange for a large campaign contribution.
So on Earth Day 2017, we had March for Science, and thousands of Americans turned out to show their support for knowledge and science over bogus conspiracy theories and climate change denial.
There were lots of signs carried by marchers, and here’s some of the best:

Maybe one day science will indeed be the standard. Until then, those of us who dream of that day must #resist.
