Briarwood Presbyterian Church is pushing against the separation of church and state by setting up its own police force. They have just gotten Senate approval for the Jesus Police. It is unknown why they need this and why they can’t just use the local police.
The Associated Press says:
“The Alabama Senate has voted to allow a church to form its own police force.”
“Lawmakers on Tuesday voted 24-4 to allow Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham to establish a law enforcement department.”
“The church says it needs its own police officers to keep its school as well as its more than 4,000 person congregation safe.”
Attorney Eric Johnston, who drafted the bill for the church, said that they have over 30,000 events every year and they need their own security. Why? What are they going to cover up?
They can hire their own private security if they want their Jesus police so badly.
What Can We Do To Fight It?
If you are as pissed off as I am. Let’s email the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and/or the Americans United for the Separation of Church and State (AU).
This is a huge violation of the separation of church and state. I urge you to report it to either or both organizations or to local organizations if you are in the area.
