Coal Executive: Trump Can’t Bring Back A Single Mining Job

Well, it looks like we’ve caught Donald Trump in yet another lie.

During the campaign, Trump promised he was going to put coal miners back to work, and as a result large numbers of voters in states like Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia cast their ballots for him.

But now Robert Murray, founder and chief executive of Murray Energy—the nation’s largest privately held coal mining company—is saying that many mining jobs were lost to technology and competition, not to regulation, and they won’t be returning now or ever:

“I suggested that [Trump] temper his expectations. Those are my exact words. He can’t bring them back.”

Yet at a rally in Louisville last week, the Fabricator-in-Chief made this false promise:

“As we speak, we are preparing new executive actions to save our coal industry and to save our wonderful coal miners from continuing to be put out of work. The miners are coming back.”

Let’s face it: Donald Trump is only good at one thing, and that’s self-promotion. Oh, and lying, he also excels at that. But as for everything else, he’s not even at amateur status. He’s a freaking chump.
