Trump Threatens To Tear Down The Wall Between Church And State

President Donald Trump has vowed to “destroy” the Johnson Amendment. This provision prohibits non-profit organizations from participating in any political campaigns in any way. If they do participate, they could lose their tax-exempt status.

Trump said:

“I will get rid of and totally destroy the Johnson Amendment and allow our representatives of faith to speak freely and without fear of retribution.”

He also added:

“… Freedom of religion is a sacred right, but it is under serious threat.”

What Trump is not realizing here is that the freedom of religion includes the freedom FROM religion. Forcing Christianity on anyone violates the person’s religious freedoms.

Again, Trump doesn’t read the Constitution or these laws. Ok, Lord Dampnuts, time for a Constitution lesson. The First Amendment reads:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

This amendment specifically says we can’t have an established religion. Putting religious people in the government is the first step toward forcing their religion on us. Do you want a theocracy, Donnie? Well, we don’t.
