Here’s The Letter About Jeff Sessions Mitch McConnell Doesn’t Want Us To Read

During the confirmation proceedings for vile racist Sen. Jeff Sessions to be Attorney General of the United States, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren thought it would be appropriate for her to read a letter that slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King’s widow wrote about Jeff Sessions in 1986.

tl;dr — Jeff Sessions was an asshole THEN and he’s an asshole now. Worse than an asshole. He is, as I already said, a vile racist.

Watch this:

The rule McConnell (also an asshole) invoked is the rately used Rule XIX, which says:

“No Senator in debate shall, directly or indirectly, by any form of words impute to another Senator or to other Senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a Senator.”

Fuck You, Mitch McConnell, you audacious son of a bitch.

Elizabeth Warren is not “imputing” Jeff Sessions. She is stating as FACT his FACTUAL RECORD and furthermore, reading a letter than is part of congressional record.

The letter she was trying to read was written by Mrs. King to the Senate Judiciary Committee when Jeff Sessions was under consideration for a federal judgeship.

And guess how that ended? Sessions didn’t receive his appointment. But now, in 2017, he is suddenly suitable?

Apparently it was this line from the letter than McConnell used to slap down Sen. Warren:

“Mr. Sessions has used the awesome power of his office to chill the free exercise of the vote by black citizens.”

Mitch McConnell seems to think he’s God these days. His audacity is astonishing. He didn’t just silence Elizabeth Warren. He silenced Coretta Scott King.

Let’s make sure as many people as possible read this letter. I’ve screengrabbed it below. You can also read it here, and here in PDF. You can even download it if you like: Coretta Scott King Letter – PDF.
