Our attitudes towards overweight people in this country are headed towards bigotry. It has headed toward prejudice; there are fat people stereotypes that we use all of the time. We are often the butt of jokes. I once got an angry email myself that told me to quit my writing job and go do Big Beautiful Women (BBW) porn.
We now have a president who would join in on the body shaming. He used to own beauty pageants, and he once called his Miss Universe winner “Miss Piggy.” He had cameras come film her while she worked out.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said this about her in one of the presidential debates:
“One of the worst things [Donald Trump] said was about a woman in a beauty contest,” recounted Clinton. “He called this woman ‘Miss Piggy.’ Then he called her ‘Miss Housekeeping’ because she was Latina. Donald, she has a name. Her name is Alicia Machado, and she has become a U.S. citizen, and you can bet she’s going to vote this November.”
He often calls women he doesn’t like “slobs” and “pigs.” Is this what we want to hear from our President Donald Trump? Do we want little girls listening to him and thinking they are fat? Do we want girls to develop eating disorders because they feel so horrible about themselves? We have to fight against this sexist, misogynistic sack of shit. Is this how we want young boys to treat women?
