In August 2015, Eastpointe, Michigan, resident, Frankie Taylor, was arrested for driving under the influence. He has filed a lawsuit against the police department.
The cops brutally mistreated him when they brought him into the station. Luckily, there were cameras at the station.
In the video, the officers can be seen tying Taylor to a chair. They kept threatening to tase him, and they beat him until he lost consciousness.
Instead of taking him to get medical treatment, they transferred him to the Macomb County Jail. They eventually took him to the hospital, but it was too late to save his eye.
In the lawsuit, Taylor is seeking compensation for his injuries and punitive damages from the officers involved.
Taylor’s attorney, James Rasor, said:
“He has permanent loss of eyesight in one eye. His vision is severely compromised. He has these horrible nightmares.
“You want to protect people from this type of brutality by police forces. White folks were allowed to use the phone by police officers; even one who had urinated in his pants was allowed to use the phone. Frankie Taylor wasn’t, and the only difference is that Frankie Taylor happens to be African-American.”
This brutality is horrible. These officers need to be fired at a minimum.
Warning: Graphic, violent video.
