As recently as yesterday, President-elect Tiny Hands was threatening that if American companies leave the United States, he will slap a 35 percent tariff on their goods when they try to export them to our shores:
without retribution or consequence, is WRONG! There will be a tax on our soon to be strong border of 35% for these companies ……
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 4, 2016
But today, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy took a giant Congressional dump on Trump’s empty threat, saying:
“I don’t want to get into some sort of trade war.”
See, Republicans are big fans of free trade. Always have been, always will be. And if Americans lose their jobs, that’s just too damn bad.
“I think history has taught us that trade wars are not healthy.”
What did the Majority Leader recommend instead? Tax cuts, of course:
“The answer would be that we’re going to have tax reform.”
Translation: We’re gonna give massive tax cuts to rich assholes like the President-elect. But tariffs? Please! Don’t be silly!
Let’s see Donnie tweet a reply to Congressman McCarthy. We’re waiting, Donnie.
