2016–already on its way to being one of the cruelest years in recent memory–took a turn for the worse today with the passing of Carrie Fisher. She will always be Princess Leia to millions around the world, and she will always be loved.
Cinnabon decided to tweet out a “tribute” to the late actress just a couple of hours after word of her death was announced:

Within minutes, social media began its revenge on the cinnamon roll maker, and it quickly turned downright ugly:
