Need Health Insurance? Republicans Think Otherwise

In 2010, President Barack Obama passed the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Over 20 million people have gotten health coverage who never could before. Insurance companies can no longer discriminate against people who have pre-existing conditions.

Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander says that the process of repealing the ACA could take years. He said:

“Eventually, we’ll need 60 votes to complete the process of replacing Obamacare and repealing it because Obamacare was not passed by reconciliation it was passed by 60 votes. And it was cleaned up by reconciliation because Scott Brown won his election. Before the process is over, we’ll need a consensus to complete it, and I imagine this will take several years to completely make that sort of transition to make sure we do no harm, create a good health care system that everyone has access to and that we repeal the parts of Obamacare that need to be repealed.”

The Republicans in Congress don’t have a specific plan to replace the system and the insurance Marketplace. Many insurance companies are saying that they will back out of the market.

These assholes need to find a way to avoid taking health coverage away from 20 million people. No one should have to choose between rent and medicine. We can do better than this, America. Think about what you are doing, Mr Ryan.
